Programmer’s lament

One day, a manager went to a programmer and said:

“I need you to write me a quick program to generate a report like this. Here’s the layout I need. It’s not all that important, so don’t spend ages on it.”

Then he went to a mechanic and said:

“My car won’t start, and when it does start, fire and smoke pour out from the engine. I have to drive down to London for a meeting, so my car needs to be fixed. It’s not an important meeting, so don’t spend ages on it.”
